Last day before break

Coming back home was extremely exciting. My roommate Nassi and I left on the 19th right after our music in society class. Before we left, music in society was pretty interesting. That ay in class we had to bring something to class that had an interesting sound, I has bought a toaster. When I arrived to class everyone had something different for the most part; water bottles, plastic bags, jars, gum, zippers, lap top bags. Our teacher then instructed us to play our instruments out loud and we became an orchestra. At first we all played together and it sounded quite weird but then our teacher broke us up into parts then our music started to sound much better. It was also sort of funny hearing all the different sounds as well. After class had ended my dad was already at the school waiting for Nassi and I.  We didn’t end up leaving right away, we first went to the MP to eat before our long ride, and in the MP I introduced my dad to some of my friends, such as Anthony “ My white friend”( Anthony had introduced Nassi and I to his parents as his “ black friends”).

up up and away

The semester is coming to an end and its getting quite real. It’s finally time to go home for Thanksgiving, the moment I’ve been waiting for! I can’t wait to eat so much food, at home is honestly where I will gain my freshman 15!  The only down fall of break coming up so fast is that now we are starting to get big assignments in class. I literally have four essays to write all do around the same time, but I guess I cant complain….. That’s juts college I guess. I have a project do in my freshman seminar class about our major, essay in EN103 about characters being revised throughout the years, and one in EN109 about water pollution. Although it’s a lot but I still have some sort of time, basically just ten more days, and im already almost done. So I can’t complain that much. I know I just can’t wait to get home to go see my little sister, I just know she’s huge now.

Onondaga Lake

Today there is a lake in particular that has been overly polluted since 1999, which is the Onondaga Lake located in Central New York.  The lake is “the result of decades of dumping by Allied Chemical, which merged with Honeywell International” (Susanne Craig). Honeywell has spent millions of dollars trying to dredging the lake, which is roughly 4.6 miles. The dredging was an attempt to remove the mercury and other pollutions. The pollution in the lake has caused attention from the state’s Health Department, who continues to warn people about eating fish from the lake. “ While some fish may be eaten occasionally by men over 15 and women over 50, states suggest that some, like carp and walleye, should not be eaten”( Susanne Craig).  Although the lake has a long way from being clean the Environmental Conservation Department has been doing a great job of cleaning it, causing the lake to be the cleanest it has been in over a century, and they have even taken an even bigger step by cleaning the sewage as well.
