Saturday and Sunday

She and her friends were on their way to a party and her boyfriend didn’t want her to go. Considering her phone only worked in wifi he decided to keep in touch with her threw one her friends phone. They left for the party at around 10:30 p.m. and sense then he still continued to call, asking her where she was at, and asking her what she was doing. At first he was sort of calm about everything but then he began to start getting verbally aggressive when they started to move from party to party. Everyone in the car could hear him yelling at her and accusing her of trying to do something behind his back so her friend that was driving just suggested that they meet him somewhere so he could talk to her and that was around 2:30 a.m.  . About ten minutes later he arrived when he came her roommate started to take her dorm key off of her lanyard so she could get into their room because she was going to go with him. As her friend was trying to get the key off he began to get aggressive and started to pull her out of the car. She told him to calm down and stop and that she was getting her ID from me but he didn’t, he then started to pull her out by her hair. When he pulled her out by her hair she hit him in the face then he got even more aggressive and pushed her head against the car. After that he started to pull her hair again and she fell and he picked her up by her hair, when that happened one of her friends had gotten out the car to help. When she got out she started to tell him to stop and he didn’t then he shoved her in the car when he did that the driver said she would be ok and that he was just drunk and then they drove off. Her friends didn’t know what to do or who to call because they didn’t know the license plate number or even her boyfriend’s name so they decided to stake out in her dorm room. About an hour later she came into the room crying and her friends started to ask her what happened the about six minutes later her RA knocked on her door concerned about what had happened to her, so her friends told them what had happened , then they called the Resident director to tell him what was going on . Then they asked to speak with her, which they did but she didn’t tell them that he had gotten physically abusive with her. Later on the police came and asked her if he had gotten physical with her and she denied it and she asked her friends to deny it as well and so they did because they wanted to respect her wishes. Her reason behind her not telling the truth is because she didn’t want him to get arrested and that she was done with him and planned on never talking to him again. The next day at around noon there was a knock on the door and she looked threw the peep hole and saw her boyfriend’s friend and she opened the door not knowing her boyfriend was with him .They both came into her room, at this time her roommate was partially asleep so she was not aware that her boyfriend was in the room too until he started yelling at her. He started to ask her why she was acting dumb last night and what she was doing and started cursing at her, which didn’t make sense because his friend claimed he was “ drunk “ last night so he didn’t know what he was doing .He then told her to get up because he wanted to talk to her and she repeatedly said no that she didn’t want to go with him then he started to pull her off of the bed by her leg. Once her roommate heard her yelling and saw her getting pulled off the bed she ran out of the room to get their RA, their RA was actually at church so she had to find another one in the next hall. Luckily she was there, they began to walk back to the room and when they had gotten to the room she, her boyfriend, and his friend were gone. When her roommate and RA realized she was gone the RA called campus security. Her roommate told security everything she knew about her boyfriend and what had just happened and then security left to go find her.

First Week

Well sense everyone is blogging about the first week of college I guess I will too. The first week of college was nothing like I expected. In high school they would tell us that the teachers really didn’t care if you payed attention or not they just would teach basically and leave. Welp that was wrong! I realized the teachers actually do care, we can’t use our laptops unless needed, and we can’t even use our phones. The laptop rule is whatever but the phone rule just sucks, like seriously. In high school we were always allowed to be on our phones and the teachers really never cared as long as you would actually do your work and still continue to have a good grade in their class. I guess teachers here just think it’s a “distraction “. Majority of everyone can multitask so I’m not seeing the big deal of being on our cell phones. I’m the kind of person that at least needs to listen to music while in class just because the simple fact that I get really bored easily and sooner or later I will fall asleep. Besides the electronic rules college is pretty chill. I thought it would be hard being so far away from home but it’s not as bad as I thought. I do really miss my family and them cooking Puerto Rican food, I’m basically living off of burgers and fries everyday now. Although NMU has a Hispanic food place it’s just not the real deal and it was basically a slap in the face when I found out they only have flower tortillas. It’s not like I can cook my tortillas because we aren’t even allowed to have a George Foreman grill so not being able have corn tortillas or actually eat real Hispanic food is just horrible. I honestly just can’t wait till November so I can finally have a real meal.

All About Me

Hey my name is Amina Melendez-Mayfield. I am from the suburbs of Gurnee Illinois, most people know it by being the place where the amusement park Six Flags is, which is about six hours and thirty minutes away from here. This is my first year of attending college at Northern Michigan University. The reason behind me coming all this way to attend NMU is simply because of their nursing program. My intended major is nursing but I’m still stuck between becoming a Physician Assistant or a Radiologist. Hopefully soon I can begin job shadowing so I can finalize my decision on my major .I will also be minoring in business. Clearly business really has nothing to do with the medical field but the reason behind me choosing to minor in business is because I plan on opening a bakery with my grandma’s recipes in my home town. Her pastry are honestly life, hopefully she sends some soon and I’ll for sure share with you all .But my dream working environment is a children’s hospital. In my home town I’ve already completed Medical Assistant courses and Certified Nursing Assisting program. The only thing is that I didn’t get my CNA certificated because I refused to change elderly diapers but I am certified in CPR so if anyone decides to have a Mild Cardio Infarction (heart attack) or possibly an Airway Obstruction (choke on something) I can save your life …. Well maybe, just try not to do either of those things though lol. My free time usually consist of watching t.v , listening to music ,  golfing , playing games , such as card games or board games , so if anyone wants to play I’ll always be up for it , and making up raps that usually never make sense . I have a mild obsession with elephants and Bob Marley so my blog just might consist of interesting facts about them and the different kinds of elephants out there and facts about Bobby. I am looking forward to seeing what my first year of college brings and meeting new people and hope everything goes well this year .
